Of All the Berries In All the World...

We’re pretty sure that when you hear the word ‘raspberry’ your next thought won't be “what other fruits should I add to this smoothie?” No you are probably thinking hardware. With more than 3 million Raspberry Pi boards throughout the world, this totally makes sense. You can blame the British engineer Eben Upton. Although he was just a lad when Acorn’s BBC Micro computer was released in the ‘80s, it inspired him together with a team of geeky minds working at Broadcom to design an affordable, credit card-sized, relatively powerful computer capable of running a Linux-based OS. Like the BBC Micro its aim is to inspire the next generation of coders, engineers and well... geeks.

The Pi is still in rude health, it’s cheap and it does the business. The community is still growing, and it’s used in tons of projects all over the world. At Elektor we have been strong supporters of the Raspberry Pi Platform as well, selling all official Raspberry Pi Gear and many, many more products of different suppliers aside from ourselves, to fit all your Pi needs!

It will surely be a long time before we begin singing “bye, bye, Miss Raspberry Pi”...
