The 2D/3D Touch and Gesture Development Kit from Microchip provides designers easy access to the 2D and 3D GestIC® control technology. This allows easy integration of multiple 2D-touch and 3D-gesture recognition in display applications. The application of the electric-field based technology offers the ability to follow hand- and finger-gestures both on the display surface as well as up 20 cm above it.

The specification of the parameters, the diagnostics and the complete configuration is done via Aurea 2.0, a free graphical user interface, so it is not necessary to write any program code.

The kit is provided with Microchip's most recent PCAP controller, the MTCH6303, the 3D-gesture controller MGC3130 and an 8” transparent touch-sensitive sensor which permits the quick realization of a prototype. The GestIC-technology uses advanced, hidden Markov models for a recognition percentage of 3D hand gestures greater than 95%.
