Life hack videos tend to show how to build something useful using common household objects. They typically use hot glue, clothespins, plastic water bottles, cigarette lighters, and other cheap stuff that most people have either lying around or that can be found easily.

Although this week’s video is presented as a life hack, it is not, as it is about soldering electronics components together to obtain a passive tone and volume control for your amplifier. It is, as a matter of fact, simply an electronics project. But we liked it, and so we share it with you.

Besides the subject of the video that will appeal to many Elektor readers and followers, the way how it is put together is interesting too. Using clever wiring techniques, the result is a rather robust construction that will not fall apart easily.

We also liked the power amplifier that makes it appearance just after minute three.
