Leading hi-rel connector and SMT board hardware manufacturer Harwin announces it has been awarded EN 9100 / AS9100C accreditation, recognising the company’s commitment to quality and supply chain excellence.  The internationally-recognised 9100 Series Quality Management System standard (referred to as AS9100 in the USA and JISQ 9100 in Japan) is specific to the aerospace industry and is adhered to and supported by all major aeronautics manufacturers worldwide.  Aerospace is one of Harwin’s key market sectors and the company’s high-reliability connector product portfolio is specified in multiple applications including avionics, radar systems, aircraft interiors and communications, as well as being used in UAVs.  Harwin interconnects are also designed into major projects with space agencies and satellite manufacturers.

Focussed on quality, safety and technology along the entire supply chain, EN 9100 accreditation is recognised within aviation industries as ensuring continuous improvement.  Already certified to the ISO 9001:2008 Quality Management standard, the implementation of EN 9100 by Harwin demonstrates to its aerospace customers that additional best practice methodologies are in place throughout the organisation.  Processes are focussed on consistently delivering products to extremely high safety and quality standards, as would be expected for industries where failure is not an option.

“We have a strong presence in the aerospace market, as our high-reliability, high-performance connector ranges are designed to withstand extremes of temperature, vibration and shock and have been proven in many programmes to date,” comments Andrew McQuilken, Technical Director at Harwin. “EN 9100 certification not only underlines our commitment to the aerospace supply chain and provides greater customer confidence in the integrity of our products, but also it helps us make continuous improvements to our internal business practices which will benefit all our customers.”
