It’s almost impossible these days to avoid the ‘Internet of Things’. Amid the tsunami of information it’s sometimes difficult to get a clear overview of the technology. That’s why Jens Nickel, Editor-in-Chief of the German edition of Elektor Magazine, ventured out to find his own path to the IoT.

As part of a series of articles, Jens developed several demo projects – from lamp control within a home network up to a low power sensor board that sends data to the cloud. In his book My Journey into the Cloud, the first 24 episodes of this IoT series are compiled.

With the slogan „Learning by Doing“, topics such as TCP/IP, MQTT, control via smartphone, WiFi access, embedded webserver, connection of a cloud service, reliability in case of disruptions, object-oriented programming and much more are discussed. The demo programs (mostly in the beginner-friendly Arduino-C dialect) are of course available as source code files.

My Journey into the Cloud is now available from the Elektor Store for just €12.50 (£10.95 / US$14). Elektor GREEN and GOLD Members take advantage of a 10% discount.
