A new version of the PCB layout program TARGET 3001! from the German company IB Friedrich has been released. Although this program is not as well known as its compatriot EAGLE, it offers a lot of features at attractive prices. The non-commercial version starts at just €69, and there is a free Discover version that is limited to two copper layers with a maximum of 250 pads. Along with the schematic drawing and PCB layout tools, including an autorouter, the program has simulation capability and a design tool for front panels. It’s certainly worth taking it for a spin.

The main focus of the recently released new version 18 is speed improvement for activities such as processing projects and creating new components. The conversion speed for ground planes has also been dramatically improved by a new algorithm. The COMPONIVERSE component library, which accepts new components from the entire user community, is constantly growing with contributions from 1,500 members. In V18 it has been given a new look, as well as more options for searching and sorting.

During the Christmas season IB Friedrich also has a special Christmas offer with hefty discounts on TARGET 3001! purchases in the web shop.
