Hi Ton, Thanks for your info. I added a header extension between the raspberry pi and the DAC board. Secondly I added also a header extension between the DAC and the LCD board... and it works very nicely. Looks realy slick and the  sounds is great. (The +5 V pin did not feed the other boards. The messing cylinders made the space between the boards to big).

Network and USB sources are OK and the system runs on 32 bit 44,1 kHz. The next step will be putting it into a nice box :-).

If the LCD is not initialized properly it should light up bright white. Apparently it doesn't. Does it it light up briefly at power-up. If not then the display is probably defective and contact customer service about this. But why did you install the new overlay? A correct overlay is already present in the image for the Waveshare 3.5" touchscreen LCD!

Last week I've received the audio DAC. Getting the DAC up and running with the latest Volumio image version 2.323 went pretty quickly, the sound quality is excellent. Next challenge was getting the touchscreen working using the base image of Volumio. Thanks to all the suggestions and links on this page I was able to get the touchscreen up and running. Primary source I used, is the Gitlab page and by using the suggestions for calibration I've updated the /opt/ script to do a calibration after boot. By default the calibration tool has a timeout so if you don't need to calibrate it will continue after a moment. Attached to this message is the patch script to execute all the necessary steps for a base image. Hopefully this will help others to get everything up and running.Setup with patch script and only one reboot Flash with image volumio-2.323-2017-11-17-pi Add empty file ssh and patch script to boot partition Start wizard and leave I have an I2S DAC to no and audio output to Audio Jack in order to prevent an additional reboot. Install plugin via the wizard: Plugins, Search Plugins, Miscellanea, Touch Display Plugin. Next to the kiosk plugin, this will also install all the necessary packages for X Window System When finished, go to Installed Plugins and switch Touch Display to On Logon using ssh with username volumio and password volumio Start the patch script volumio@volumio:~$ bash /boot/ The script will prompt for root access via sudo once so enter the password of user volumio, namely volumio When the script is finished, you can enable the I2S DAC and select the HiFiBerry DAC When saving, also restart as the popup suggests
