The Raspberry Pi Foundation has announced that its latest 12.3-megapixel Raspberry Pi High-Quality Camera will retail for just $50 (or €53.95 incl. VAT). It uses a standard C- and CS- lens mount which means a wide range of lenses can be used with it.

The 5-megapixel OV5647 camera was phased out in 2015. At that time, it was the third product in the Raspberry Pi catalogue together with the original Raspberry Pi 1 and the official Wi-Fi dongle. An 8-megapixel version using the Sony IMX219 replaced it in 2016, which proved to be very popular with sales of over 1.7 million and counting. To date, over 1.7 million of these have been sold.

The Raspberry Pi High-Quality Camera's Key Features
