European semiconductor manufacturer Infineon produces electronic components for a wide range of applications. Evaluation and development boards supporting these devices ease the life of design engineers. Now that Arduino has become the de facto standard for fast prototyping tools, Infineon too carries a line of Arduino Shields. Infineon for makers is what they call it.

Infineon specializes in automotive and power electronics, and digital security. Therefore it will come as no surprise that the shields revolve around these application domains.

Infineon for Makers

In this free article we will look in more detail at a number of these shields. Brushed and brushless motor driver shields can be had from Infineon, as well as high- and low-side load switch shields. From sensors and LED controllers to Arduino-compatible microcontroller boards, Infineon covers them all.

Respecting common maker-scene conventions, open-source Arduino libraries support the shields and the hardware designs are available as Eagle files; GitHub is where you go to get these goodies.

The shields are available from the Elektor Store.
