In a world of computers and communication systems which are becoming more and more complex and powerful, it is essential to have a very good understanding of how the subsystems interact. To do this, development and test engineers must validate operation at the system level, that is, between multiple interacting programs and subsystems. It is almost always necessary to acquire and analyze more than four signals. The new oscilloscope series from Siglent addresses these requirements and offers a flexibly scalable oscilloscope series with a high bandwidth for acquiring very dynamic signals.

SIGLENT Technologies introduces a new series of oscilloscopes. This series expands the existing performance series SDS6000A by 8 models. The new oscilloscopes are available as 4 and 8-channel versions without a display. The compact form factor (4-channel device: 1 HU, 8-channel device: 2 HU) saves a lot of rack space when integrated into the measurement system. Another special feature is that several of these devices can be switched together to form a multi-channel system. If you connect an external monitor and a mouse, the oscilloscopes can also be used "stand-alone". The well-known and popular web server from other Siglent devices is also available, so that the devices can be controlled remotely without external software. The SCPI command structure forms the basis for user-defined programming. Control can be via USB or Ethernet (1000BaseT).

The series offers a maximum bandwidth of 2 GHz and the sampling rate is 5 GS/s per channel. This provides the prerequisite for the acquisition of fast clocks and signals with steep edges. The input stage optimized for the SDS6000A series is a key part of the SDS6000L series and enables signal acquisition with high signal integrity. The very good specifications (SFDR >45 dBc, channel-to-channel isolation up to 70 dB, DC amplifier accuracy +/- 1.5%) demonstrate the strengths of the input stage. This property helps when analyzing small signals in the smallest vertical adjustment range of 500 µV. Furthermore, the HiRES function (HighResolution) is a technique available with which the vertical resolution can be mathematically improved from 8 bits to up to 16 bits. This also improves the accuracy of signals captured by the SDS6000A. For detailed analysis, acquired signals can be zoomed in both the X and Y directions.

The acquisition memory is 500 megabytes and is divided into 1, 2 or 4 channels. A second memory with a further 500 Mpts is built into the 8-channel device. The waveform capture rate can reach up to 750,000 waveforms/s in sequence mode. In this way, the blind time can be kept short and rarely occurring signals can be found more quickly. The digital trigger and the many different trigger types help to isolate errors in the signal quickly and efficiently. The zone trigger offers a particularly large amount of flexibility. Further signal analysis can be carried out with the large number of implemented measurement functions. Four math channels and an extensive formula editor are available for complex calculations. A flexibly configurable mask test is available as standard for fast pass-fail measurements, for example in the production environment.

As with all Siglent oscilloscopes, the "History" function, Bode plot and a range of serial bus decoders (I2C, SPI, UART, CAN, LIN) are also included as standard with this series. Other serial bus decoders (CAN-FD, FlexRay, MIL1553, I2S, SENT, Manchester) are available and, like the built-in function generator (25 MHz), can also be activated later. Other functional additions are eye diagram and jitter analysis. Both functions support the developer in the analysis and optimization of digital data signals. All the performance parameters of this new release demonstrate the continuous development of Siglent. The devices of the DS6000L series are an extension of the SDS600A series and solve the problem of "too few channels" in system-level verification.
