A few months back I saw this interview with Jeremy Rifkin on Dutch (internet) television. Rifkin is president of the Foundation on Economic Trends and the author of seventeen bestselling books on the impact of scientific and technological changes on the economy, the workforce, society, and the environment. Even for people that are well aware of the problems humanity and our planet is facing, the facts brought forward by Rifkin are shocking but inspiring. "What we're seeing here is a defining moment for the human race. [..] If our scientists are right, we may see within 30 or 40 years, maybe a century at the most, the potential demise of our species. We're really asleep.. all across the world." But don't worry, economist and crisis-expert Rifkin sees a little spark of hope. Society needs to adapt to a new way of living, he says, and share energy through a huge network. It's time for revolution!
