Jörg Haase, an operating engineer and brake systems instructor at DB AG, has a passion for audio and video electronics, as well as for making videos on YouTube (@ve99online). Let's take a look at his workspace.
How would you best describe your workspace? And how do you use it?
Jörg: Repair shop for restoration and repair of audio and video equipment.
How long have you had your workspace, and where is it located?
Jörg: 40 years and it is located at home.
What were your goals when planning and/or setting up your workplace?
Jörg: To be able to repair high-quality electronics, to improve my capabilities and to have all the necessary measuring equipment and tools available.
What projects are you working on in your field?
Jörg: In the area of sustainability, via YouTube, I show the restoration of various electrical appliances and especially the restoration of high-quality vintage HiFi equipment.
Tell us about your favorite project in the field of electronics. What did you build and why?
Jörg: The development of a new test system for wheel slide protection systems on railroad vehicles in order to increase safety and to make troubleshooting much easier. The test equipment was developed entirely in my workshop, and the two prototypes were built there.

What equipment and tools do you have in your room? Can you tell us how and where you store the equipment and instruments?
Jörg: I own an extensive measurement equipment collection, mostly R&S, HP, Rigol, Siglent, Wandel and Goltermann, etc. Measuring transmitters, audio analyzers, DSO, laboratory power supplies, impedance meters, DVM, spectrum analyzers, as well as a Roetest PC tube measuring instrument and much more.
What do you consider to be your most important or valuable equipment or tool? What is the reasoning behind this?
Jörg: The Roetest and the analyzers from R&S. This equipment makes it possible to restore old equipment to its as-delivered condition.
Are you planning to invest in new equipment or tools?
Jörg: The remaining part of the storage area is currently being expanded, and my workspace is being enlarged somewhat.
Are you currently working on an electronics or programming project?
Jörg: High-voltage power supply for tube equipment, together with a friend.
Do you remember your first electronics project? Can you describe the electronics project and the technologies for it?
Jörg: It started with a Kosmos XG lab and all the expansion stages. Ingenious was the 40.68 MHz remote control that I actually got to work (that was not so easy with circuits from Heinz Richter).
What sparked your interest in creating a YouTube channel?
Jörg: Passing on old repair experience to the younger generation and motivating many colleagues to get out the screwdriver and DVM again.
Do you have any advice, tips or encouragement for other engineers or makers who want to set up a workspace?
Jörg: Electronics is a very nice hobby that has opened up many possibilities for me in my career.
I was able to save very many devices from the disposal yard through my knowledge and thus do a lot for our environment. Not to mention happy people who have had devices with sentimental value repaired.
