EPROMs are ideal memory devices, for not only do they store data in a relatively permanent manner, but they can be erased and reprogrammed, whenever necessary. The ultraviolet method described here is both efficient and fairly cheap - provided the necessary caution is taken, for UV rays may severely damage your eyes.
