DC-DC converter
This design is based on the celebrated 555 timer IC, and changes a positive voltage of 9 V into a negative one. A low-power dc-dc converter like the one shown here may be required sometimes when working with battery-powered equipment or older ICs that somehow call for a low-current negative bias. The circuit is also fine if you want to use a single battery to power a circuit requiring a symmetrical supply rails.
