The 78xx product series has stood the test of time; it's cheap, incorporated in all sorts of devices, manufactured by several semiconductor design houses and readily available at nearly every distributor. It is simply ubiquitous. As is its negative variant, the 79xx series. But there is a downside. They are not that responsive to load fluctuations, they have a pretty high dropout voltage and they get hot! They simply waste too much power for applications that are either battery powered, unfit for large heat sinks, or suffer from sudden load variations. Because of these shortcomings Elektor designer Raymond Vermeulen decided to redesign these regulators, but using switched-mode power supply techniques.

Elektor Academy and element14 have teamed up to bring you this design as an exclusive webinar, presented by designer Raymond Vermeulen and editor Jan Buiting who will talk about switched mode replacements for these traditional regulators. Join them in this webinar, get first hand technical details from the project leader and enter into a debate on design and other technical aspects during the live Question & Answer session after the presentation.

Participation in this webinar is completely free! All you need to do is register via the link below.
