The electronics industry is always in flux. Let's briefly review the latest news on mergers and acquisitions. 

Various outlets reported this week that Campbell, CA-based AI startup Wave Computing will likely acquire MIPS Technologies, which was founded in 1984 and offers CPU IP processor solutions. In May, Wave Computing founder Dado Banatao received the 2018 “Global Industry Leader” ward at the ChipEx2018 Executive Summit in Tel Aviv.

In other M&A-related news, SoftBank Group acquired Arm in 2016 for $32 billion. Last week, the company announced plans to sell 51% of the China operations of Arm for $775 million Chinese-led investors. On the IoT front, Arm announced Tuesday the acquisition of Stream Technologies, a connectivity management provider founded in 2000. “The combination of Stream’s technology with Arm’s Mbed IoT Device Management Platform will provide organizations with a robust end-to-end IoT platform for managing, connecting, provisioning and updating devices that is easily scalable and flexible,” Arm posted.
