MIPS Technologies, has launched a new MIPS Application Development (MAD) programme to facilitate the rapid development of applications based on the MIPS architecture. It includes technical support and services for performance testing and compatibility to ensure that applications will run properly on MIPS-based devices. The latest MIPS developer community support initiative is designed to enable programmers to quickly create applications that are fully compatible with MIPS-based mobile devices and ensure optimal user experience with games and other applications.

The initial focus of the MAD programme is on the development of applications for MIPS-based devices running the Android platform. A dedicated team of MIPS development engineers provides compatibility and performance analysis, which is fed back to the application developer. Full documentation and technical support are available from the MIPS Developer Community website. Developers can also use MAD Kits for Android application development.

The MAD Kits provide a full toolchain comprising an Android software development kit (SDK) and QEMU emulator as well as a native development kit (NDK) for Windows or Linux. A premium mobile hardware platform will also be available.
