The United States of Arduino bring peace to the world of Open Source
After a painful argument about, say, two years ago that led to the creation of two independent Arduino organizations, LLC (or .cc) and SRL (.org), forcing Arduino enthusiasts to install two development environments in order to work with all the available Arduino-compatible products, the two former enemies announced on the World Maker Faire New York a settlement. A new holding will be created for the two entities before the end of 2016 and Arduino will be one as before.

According to Massimo Banzi, president of the left Arduino factory, this is one of the best days in the history of Arduino. Federico Musto, president of the right Arduino factory, was “thrilled to resolve the issues that have taken place over the past couple of years.” The new holding will be the single contact point for wholesalers. A non-profit entity called Arduino Foundation will become responsible for the development of software and all interaction with the open source community.

Genuino, the workaround brand from Arduino.cc to sell Arduino products outside the USA, is said to continue to exist as a separate product line. If and when the websites and IDEs etc. will become one again remains for the moment an open question.
