Wondering about the results from last week’s System Check on the topic of electrical engineering degrees? Here are the result's from last week.Based on the results, most Elektor community members don’t think electrical engineering degrees are going anywhere in the near future. A strong majority still sees them as essential, with only a small minority questioning their value. What’s shifting, though, is how that value is defined. The “depends on specialization” response stands out. It reflects what we’re seeing across the industry: the EE degree still matters, but where and how you apply it matters more than ever.
On the AI side, there doesn’t seem to be too much panic. Very few believe AI will significantly reduce the need for EE degrees. In fact, more people think demand will grow. That aligns with reality: AI isn’t replacing engineers. It’s amplifying them. If anything, this result reinforces a point we’ve been making for years at Elektor. The engineers who will thrive are the ones who combine strong fundamentals with hands-on, practical experience.
