STM32 Wireless Innovation Design Contest

Official Rules, Terms & Conditions:
  • Contest promoted and administered by Elektor International Media B.V. (“Elektor”)
  • No purchase necessary to enter or win.
  • A purchase or payment of any kind will not improve your chances of winning.
  • Void where prohibited or restricted by law.
  • Review these Official Rules before submitting an entry.

1. Timing: The STM32 Wireless Innovation Design Contest begins on 1st of October 2023, at 9:00AM CET and ends on 15th of March 2024 at 24:00 hours CET. Contest registration will take place from on 1st of October 2023, at 9:00AM CET until 19th of February 2024, 24:00 hours CET. The Contest registration takes place online via completed form submissions.  

2. How to Enter: To be eligible for the contest entry, you must:

3. Eligibility: The contest is open to all persons aged 18 years or older at the start date of the contest and that have a valid physical and email address (“Participant”). Participants must participate as individuals, not as corporations, limited liability companies, or other entities. Officers, directors, and employees of Elektor, STMicroelectronics (“ST”), their subsidiaries or affiliates (including distributors and sales representatives) are ineligible to enter the contest. Anyone who is a resident of a country, province or state where the prize is prohibited, taxed, subject to registration or bonding, subject to disclosure requirements (including without limitation requirements that these Official Rules or other contest materials be published in a language other than English) or otherwise restricted under national, federal, provincial, state or local statutes, rules, orders, regulations, or other laws, is ineligible to enter the contest. Elektor and ST expressly disclaim any responsibility or liability for any Participant who enters in violation of these Official Rules. By entering this contest, each Participant agrees to waive any additional rights granted regarding the prize by the country, state, or province in which he or she is domiciled.  If selected as a winner, the winning Participant must provide the Participant’s physical address and other information as requested by Elektor to verify the Participant’s eligibility and ship the prize to the Participant. Failure to provide this information within 3 business days after requested shall make the Participant ineligible to participate in the contest and the prize shall be forfeited, in which case an alternate winner will be selected. 

4. Disclaimer: Elektor and ST will not be liable for:
  • Any claims, damages, losses or injuries, including any third-party claims, arising from or relating to entry and participation in this contest and acceptance, possession, use or misuse of the prizes.
  • Prizes that are lost in the mail or have other unforeseen problems. 
  • Any technical or human errors, malfunctions, failures, etc. resulting from participation in this contest.
  • Any failure to deliver the prize to the winner due to any national, federal, provincial, state or local statutes, rules, orders, regulations, or other laws, including but not limited to export control laws. 

5. Contest: Up to 150 Participants will be selected to receive an NUCLEO-WBA52CG, STM32WB5MM-DK or NUCLEO-WL55JC Board with shipping costs prepaid. Only one board will be provided per Participant. Elektor, at its sole discretion, may decide which Participants will be sent a board for use in a project to incorporate the boards into a design. Decisions are based on the contents of the Project Proposal field of the registration form. The project subject is open, there is no imposed field or domain of application. Contest application must be entered on or before 30th of November 2023 at 24:00 hours CET; Contest projects must be received on or before 19th of February 2024 at 24:00 hours CET.

6. IP: By entering this contest, Participant hereby grants a perpetual, irrevocable license to any person, free of charge, to use any software or other electronic data submitted by Participant (including but not limited to information in the form of code, datasets, algorithms, machine learning instructions and neural networking techniques) without restriction, under the MIT Open Source License, the terms and conditions of which can be found at: https://opensource.org/licenses/MIT.  The submitted project must be original work of the Participant. Elektor reserves the right to terminate the STM32 Wireless Innovation Design Contest or alter the conditions of participation at any time.

7. Winner Selection: Three (3) winner(s) will be selected from the list of entries submitted during the timeframe specified in Section 1. The determination will be made by an independent third party using a predetermined set of judging criteria.  If you are selected, meet the eligibility requirements, and otherwise comply with these Official Rules, you will be awarded one of the prizes specified in Section 9.

8. Winner Notification: You will be notified via email if you are a winner. Winner must allow two to four weeks for delivery of prize.

9. Prize: The prizes will be €2,500 for the 1st prize, €1,500 for the 2nd prize, and €1000 for the 3rd prize

10. Claiming Your Prize: Winner must respond within three (3) business days of notification or forfeit the prize, in which case an alternate winner will be selected.

11. Taxes: All taxes, fees, duties, levies, withholdings, insurance, shipping, and other charges imposed by third parties, including but not limited to national, federal, state, provincial, and local income or VAT taxes, applicable to any prizes provided by Elektor are the sole responsibility of the winner.

12. Prize Substitution: Winner may not substitute the prize for any other prize. However, Elektor may substitute the prize for any other prize of equal or greater value, in its reasonable discretion, in the event the prize is not available for any reason outside its reasonable control.

13. Prize Delivery: You must have a valid physical address to receive a prize.  Elektor is not responsible for lost or misdirected prizes, but if a prize delivery problem occurs, then an effort to redeliver the same prize or deliver a prize substitution will be made.

14. Errors and Disputes: In the event of a dispute as to the ownership of any contest entry, the person whose name is submitted on the form of entry associated with the prize number for the winning entry will be deemed to be the winner. Decisions made by Elektor and its contest affiliates are final. By entering the contest, you agree to be bound by the decisions of Elektor, its contest affiliates, and these Official Rules. You and your entries may be disqualified if you attempt to circumvent these Official Rules.

15. Technical Problems: The contest may be canceled, suspended and/or modified, in whole or in part, if in the opinion of Elektor any fraud, technical failure or other factor beyond its control impairs the integrity of the contest.

16. General Release: By entering this contest, you release Elektor, ST, their subsidiaries and affiliates from any liability whatsoever, and waive all causes of action, related to any claims, costs, injuries, losses or damages of any kind arising out of or in connection with the contest or delivery, misdelivery or acceptance of any prize.

17. Governing Law: Any dispute(s) regarding participation, submissions, prizes or the rules of this game shall be governed by the internal laws of Ireland, without regard to any conflicts of laws rules.

18. Participant Information: Participants’ information will be used to (1) administer the contest, including contacting Participants to send boards and to announce winners.
