About the author

Paul Hetrelezis's first serious venture into electronics was the building of the 1970s Pong game on Veroboard, as no PCB making apparatus was available then for him. The TV game project came from a popular electronics magazine, and he built it at the age of 16. In his early twenties, he became self-taught in the repair of color TVs, later extending those skills to working on VCRs. His personal and technical electronics library grew as rapidly as the collection of tools, test equipment, and electronic parts, making for an expansive and active workspace. In his thirties, he gained experience in authoring several published technical articles, including original circuit ideas that he designed, built, and successfully tested. These writings were published in two well-known Australian electronics magazines. In his late thirties, he designed and built a moving robot that could detect barriers in its path and steer around them.
