Getting a microcontroller system to function properly is no mean task, not even for the truly initiated. Such systems typically look dead as a doornail even if the slightest malfunction exists. The hardware and software described in this article enables recalcitrant 8051/8031 based systems to be scrutinized in great detail using only a pe and a simple test adaptor.
