In a recent press release the Saelig Company Inc have announced that they will be distributing a new 100MHz four-channel benchtop oscilloscope from Owon. The Far-Eastern manufacturers have been building a reputation for quality, low-cost test equipment and the new TDS7102 has a similar spec to the existing four-channel SDS7102 but with the added convenience of a touch-screen user interface.

The scope features 1GSa/s signal capturing on all four channels simultaneously with a 7.6MSa record length and 50,000 wfmSa/s capture rate. The touchscreen makes it more convenient to position and display waveforms and the scope retains control knobs and buttons for conventional operation.

To sum up the TDS7102 features an 8-inch full colour 800 x 600 pixel LCD display, XY mode, auto-set, averaging, math functions, waveform storage and pass/fail output. FFT functionality is also included to display a signal’s frequency spectrum. The input impedance is switchable from 1Mohm to 50ohm and an autoscale function can automatically adjust the vertical gain or the horizontal time base or both together. The TDS7102 automatically measures and displays frequency and peak-peak/rms/mean values and cursors can also be used to make individual readings. Video signal monitoring is also facilitated with triggering on NTSC/PAL/SECAM line or field waveforms. The scope also has a USB host and device port, VGA for external display or projector and Ethernet LAN for remote operation.
