The ODROID-W is a miniature computing module fully software compatible with the Raspberry-Pi. In early 2014 the Korean company Hardkernel set out to design their own smaller version of the Raspberry Pi which could use standard RPi peripherals such the Pi Camera module connector and the 26-pin GPIO port. Their resulting design uses the same Broadcom BCM2835 processor and 512MB of RAM of the original Rpi-B and employs micro versions of the HDMI port connector and the SD slot. To save space the MIPI DSI display connector and Ethernet have also been omitted from the design.

The company also produce a $20 ODROID-W Docking Board which adds 4 USB ports, 10/100 Ethernet, an audio jack and UART port. The board measures 60 x 36 x 7mm (2.4 x 1.4 x 0.3”). Some of the features and improvements over the original Raspberry Pi include:

- Li+ rechargeable battery charger and fuel gauge for portables, wearable and robots application
- Real Time Clock to keep accurate time without an Internet connection by just adding a coin battery
- 12-bit precision ADC to measure the dynamic voltage signals via two single-ended inputs
- DC/DC step-down converters for higher power efficiency
- DC/DC step-up converter for 5Volt rails (USB host and HDMI) from a Li-Polymer battery
- USB Host port can be placed on top or bottom as preferred
- DIY friendly 0.1inch/2.54mm pitch IO connector (up to 32 GPIO ports) for handy prototyping

The ODROID-W is set to retail at around $30 US, available from late August 2014 and will initially be stocked in the EU by pollin electronic.
