It’s our 22nd webinar in partnership with element14 and we couldn’t be more excited about this month’s money saving topic! First featured as an article in the January & February 2014 double issue of Elektor Magazine, this webinar focuses on creating an economical and space-efficient replacement for the standard GU4 model 10-watt halogen lamp. Barely bigger than the GU4 bulb, this LED alternative consumes one-tenth of the power.

Today a plethora of alternatives is available to replace the majority of incandescent and halogen lamps. Since 100% compatible retrofit lamps are extremely complex (due to the optical, thermal, electrical and commercial requirements), the design of such an LED is normally reserved for a large team of developers. This webinar, however, hopes to give all you electronics enthusiasts and hobbyist out there what you crave most; the ability to design and build one yourself!

Over the course of the one hour webinar, we’ll discuss the design choices & tradeoffs that, over time, produced a circuit that can be quickly and simply replicated at home.

Presenting this month’s webinar is Fons Janssen, a Field Applications Engineer for Maxim Integrated with over a decade of experience. He has written a number of Elektor articles in the past, including the piece that inspired this webinar, and is known for designing simple & easy to reproduce circuits.
