Siglent Launches the SMM3000X Series: The Source-Measure-Unit for Every Bench

The demands placed on electronic measurement and test technology are increasing rapidly. One Instrument – Many Functions

Source Measure Units combine a voltage source, a current source, and measurement capabilities in a single device. They enable the simultaneous generation and highly accurate measurement of electrical parameters, making them ideal for characterizing sensitive components. Typical applications include generating I-V curves, resistance and leakage current measurements, as well as pulse and sweep tests. The Siglent SMM3000X was specifically developed for these tasks. As a fully integrated 4-quadrant SMU, it can both source and sink voltage and current, offering a wide operating range of up to ±210 V, ±3 A DC, or ±10.5 A in pulse mode.

Precision for the Smallest Signals

The SMM3000X combines advanced specifications with immediate practical benefits for users. With measurement resolution down to 10 fA and 100 nV, along with a 6½-digit display, even the smallest currents and voltages can be captured with high precision. This enables detailed analysis of sensitive semiconductors and modern sensor technologies.

The measurement interval can be flexibly adjusted from 0.0005 to 100 PLC (Power Line Cycles). Pulse widths from 50 microseconds and a minimum trigger period of 10 µs enable versatile and fast test procedures, from rapid sweeps to long-term measurements. With the ability to store up to 100,000 time-stamped measurement points, the SMM3000X supports efficient and comprehensive documentation of extensive test series, such as in automated characterization or production testing.

Integrated features such as mathematical analysis, limit testing, pulse and sweep functions allow measurement results to be evaluated and analyzed directly on the instrument, reducing analysis effort and increasing process reliability. Users benefit from an all-in-one instrument that optimally combines precision, flexibility, and efficiency for research, development, and manufacturing.

Intuitive Operation and High Connectivity

The SMM3000X features an intuitive 5-inch touchscreen with a modern user interface for quick access to all measurement and source functions. For automated testing, the device supports SCPI commands, includes a built-in web server, offers a wide range of triggering options (12 external ports), and provides interfaces such as USB Device, USB Host, and LAN; a USB-GPIB adapter is optionally available. The system supports two- and four-wire measurements, arbitrary waveforms, and list scans with intervals starting at 10 µs.
