ST Microelectronics have introduced a Development board powered by a STM32F746NGH6 microcontroller which has an ARM Cortex –M7 core with 1 Mbyte Flash memory and 340 Kbytes of RAM. The board features the standard Arduino Uno V3 connectors to accept Arduino shields and has a good range of interface options and on-board capability including:

• On-board ST-LINK/V2-1 supporting USB re-enumeration capability
• Mbed-enabled (mbed.org)
• USB functions: virtual COM port, mass storage, debug port
• Camera connector
• SAI audio codec
• Audio line in and line out jack
• Stereo speaker outputs
• Two ST MEMS microphones
• SPDIF RCA input connector
• Two pushbuttons (user and reset)
• 128-Mbit Quad-SPI Flash memory
• 128-Mbit SDRAM (64 Mbits accessible)
• Connector for microSD card
• RF-EEPROM daughter board connector
• USB OTG HS with Micro-AB connectors
• USB OTG FS with Micro-AB connectors
• Ethernet connector compliant with IEEE-802.3-2002
• Five power supply options:
o –ST LINK/V2-1
o USB FS connector
o USB HS connector
o VIN from Arduino connector
o External 5 V from connector
3.3 V or 5 V power output for external applications

The board is supported by a wide choice of integrated development environments and retails at around £33 in the UK, $49 in the US and includes a 4.3 inch 480 x 272 color LCD TFT capacitive touch screen. Check out the development kit’s preliminary technical docs at STM32F746G-DISCO.
