The Cloud... from Bosch
Cloud-Services are an essential component of the Internet of Things concept. Web-based data banks can for example collect measurements made by sensors in the field. In the Cloud the information can be processed and then displayed on a web site (configurable by the user) to give a more meaningful representation of the data.

Bosch has announced the launch of a Cloud service for their IoT services. In the Bosch IoT Cloud there are different applications running in areas of connected mobility, connected industry and connected buildings. Initially the IoT Cloud will be providing solutions for Bosch alone but from 2017 it will also be made available as a service for other companies. Bosch operates its IoT cloud in its own computing centre near Stuttgart employing state of the art data security.

Also floating around in the Bosch IoT Cloud are, for example, solutions for heating engineers. The information can be accessed remotely and contains details of Bosch heating equipment along with fault diagnosis tools. Another application aimed at arable farmers optimizes asparagus yields by measuring soil temperature to give farmers more information on growing conditions. An online map is available for users of the Stuttgart commuter railway system to indicate free park and ride parking spots. Sensors on the ground detect free spaces and send the information to the cloud where it is added to the map in real-time. Users can view the map on their smartphone.
