As announced by the Publishers on page 6 of the October 2014 edition, Elektor’s English language edition is no longer available from bookstores and kiosks. The decision does not affect the supply of printed magazines to our members. Also, copies of the printed magazine continue to be available directly from the publishers.

As a sign of our appreciation to those of you having gone out to buy our magazine either occasionally or for years on end from the same sales point (wasting days and a small fortune in the process), we thought we’d do some number tweaking the electronics way.

While Accounts people hope for zeroes to auto-reproduce behind the thousands separator, to electronics folks the 0 is lowly and often volatile. For example, leading zeroes should be suppressed, right? It took some number juggling in the Accounts central computer (which is euro-denominated) to first declare the 0 in 2014 leading, then suppress it and lastly run this bit of SPL (Spoof Programming Language):

@ALL

ONLY OCT14 ONLY

JUGGLED PRICE = 2Ø14

JUGGLED PRICE DIV 10

RESULT TO: HAPPYREADER$,WEBSITE$,DOT-POST$

Resulting in the one-off price of 2•14 euros for a printed copy of the October 2014 edition delivered to your home irrespective of your location. Our digital edition is also available for this ridiculously low price.

After implementing the highly unusual price in the system, Elektor Accounts computers immediately got a software upgrade meaning:

So… IF you were unable to find Elektor magazine October 2014 at your local bookstore…

THEN no worries, our best advice now is to go straight to www.elektor.com/elektor-magazine-en-october-2014

This is a one-off offer for the October 2014 edition. Please note that currency conversion from euros is applied according to your location.
