I was contemplating using a PIC micro for this project but an LPC800 would do the job nicely.
The system uses a combination of Micro/WIZ550io (courtesy of Connect the Magic 2014) to control lighting throughout a typical home, on/off/dimming control will be achieved with an infra red remote control. Additional functions such as security (using PIR and/or door and window switches) can also be added. Central monitoring of all functions will be achieved with a Raspberry Pi.
With Ethernet networking available in each room multimedia entertainment via DLNA would be a cinch.
No pictures are available as yet since I haven't received the WIZ550io, although I have been approved.
