Since I also work within the entertainment industry, we use Neutrik PowerCON connectors allot. Therefore I designed a "power-split" for PowerCON with 1 in and 6+1 out.
However according to Neutrik, the 16A version shouldn't be inserted "hot", a limitation that many in the industry ignores.
I therefore decided to make a "smarter" version with both a short-circuit protection, a true current-sense to make sure the first powerCON isn't overloaded (more than 16A) and also make sure that each output isn't "hot" until the connector is fully inserted.
But ideas is one thing, time and deeper knowledge is another.
Anyone interested in making this solution into a project?
