Two-IC medium-wave pocket radio
Believe it or not, but it's fashionable ('cool') these days to listen to medium-wave radio stations. Ferranti's ZN416 integrated circuit contains a complete radio receiver with AM demodulator. All you need to do is strew a couple of decoupling ICs around the IC, connect an antenna to the balanced RF inout (pins 1 and 8), and a pair of headphones to the AF output (pin5).
