IRQ and DMA usage:
right-of-way rules for the PC
The IRQ and DMA lines are used to manage communications between the computer and all other components, extension cards and peripheral devices. It is important that these lines are correctly allocated and applied, since otherwise the PC will not work properly with the various devices which are connected to it. In this article we explain the functions of these lines and the possibilities which modern PCs offer for resolving possible problems and conflicts relating to their use.
