Past Results

In the last System Check, we asked community members about their interests outside of electronics engineering. Here are the results.
 

Our latest System Check shows that Elektor community members are curious far beyond electronics. Reading and learning emerged as the most common hobby outside engineering, reflecting a community that enjoys continually expanding its knowledge. Science-related interests also remain strong, while creative pursuits such as music, art, and photography, along with outdoor activities and sports, all attracted significant interest. At the same time, the large "Other" category suggests our members have an incredibly diverse range of passions that extend well beyond the options we provided.

When given an entire weekend away from engineering projects, many respondents still gravitate toward hands-on activities. DIY projects, woodworking, and crafting were by far the most popular choice, showing that the desire to build and create doesn't disappear just because the soldering iron is put away. Hiking, gardening, travel, spending time with family and friends, and simply relaxing also ranked highly, highlighting the importance of balancing technical interests with personal well-being.

Outside the world of electronics, science and space clearly stand out as the community's favorite topics, with music and other engineering disciplines also attracting considerable interest. History, literature, art, sports, and theater all received meaningful support as well, while business, politics, and philanthropy were less frequently selected. Overall, the results paint a picture of a community that is deeply curious, enjoys making and learning in many forms, and carries its passion for discovery into nearly every aspect of life.
