The Raspberry Pi 3 Model B was presented a few days ago by Element14! The new Raspberry Pi 3 Model B is again an upgrade compared to its predecessor, RPi 2 Model B. RPi 3 Model B has Wi-Fi and Bluetooth built in. In addition the processor is, according to Eben Upton, 50% faster than that in the Model 2.

The RPi 3 has a Quad Core 64-bit BCM2837 ARMv8 processor on board which runs at 1.2 GHz, while the price has remained the same: US $35. Also the on-board USB power supply has been improved and can now provide up to 2.5A to external USB devices.

Thanks to its built-in support for Bluetooth Low Energy and Wi-Fi, applications are now even easier to realize. In particular IoT applications can benefit from this. But other potential applications are direct streaming to Bluetooth headphones or loudspeakers or a Wi-Fi gateway and 'Cloud' storage at home.
