The Thundercomm Rubik Pi 3 blends Raspberry Pi familiarity with Qualcomm AI muscle. Discover how this 12-TOPS single-board computer (SBC) shapes edge AI projects.

SBCs are no longer just about blinking LEDs or running Linux on the cheap. Today’s developers expect real horsepower and, increasingly, AI at the edge. The Thundercomm Rubik Pi 3 is a single-board computer built around a Qualcomm DragonwingTM QCS6490 SoC. It costs a bit more than a Raspberry Pi 5, but for that money you get serious AI acceleration on a compact board.

Out of the Box

Physically, the Rubik Pi 3 looks a bit like a supersized Raspberry Pi: a compact Pico-ITX layout with the famous 40-pin GPIO header exactly where you’d expect it (Figure 1). That’s deliberate. Thundercomm designed the board to be compatible with Raspberry Pi accessories, so existing HATs, sensors, and cabling can slot right in.
