As showers are a major theme on TechTheFuture.com (proof: here and here), I couldn't pass up on this little article I came across at envirogadget. It looks pretty unbelievable (or at the very least incredible): this 'piezo electric' shower supposedly heats its water 'freely', without any power input. It does so using the water thats pumped through the pipes. Next to heating its own water, it can also power the touchscreen display that controls the Piezo Shower.

The creators made a real working prototype of this self-heating shower. The friction of the water in the tubes generates heat and electricity using piezo electricity (you know the deal), which explains the intricate web of pipes: it maximizes the 'energy-producing'-surface. The display takes the eco-level of this shower to the next level: it shows how much water you've been using and how long your shower session is taking for maximum awareness.

I wonder how this thing works in practise: is the pressure of the watertap enough to start pumping through water and generating electricity? I have to say I'm a bit sceptic, and would really like to see this thing working. I wouldn't mind having my own in-house water-power generator: turn on the tap to charge your laptop :D.
