CDP1802 — the First Micro in Space
The CDP1802 was the world’s first CMOS-only CPU which offered a number of advantages: low current consumption, wide temperature ranges, better noise margins, wide supply voltage range and the ability to interface directly to 4000 series CMOS ICs as well as good old 7400 TTL. The 1802 featured a single-phase clock, static operation and a fairly unusual architecture often described as ‘bright’, ‘totally clean’ and ‘efficient’.
