The number of keyboards around on the globe says nothing about their intrinsic quality or indeed the value of any texts written on them. In the past, many fine books and datasheets were written, and fabulous electronic products developed, using a contraption called a typewriter.
To real writers the keyboard is an essential attribute in the creation of their product. For sure it’s unrealistic to yearn back to a ringing and chattering Underwood typewriter when you can have the luxury of a plastic or brushed aluminum no-name product from China linked to your PC, but somehow these newfangled keyboards do not have the X factor.

QwerkyToys found and filled the niche I’ve just hinted at and supply exactly what I want: a keyboard that’s nostalgic but all-electronic for sure and certainly up to the requirements of the Internet age we’re in. They say: “the modern workspace is stale and boring. There is so much emphasis on function that we've forgotten to have some fun! Qwerkywriter was possible because of innovations like crowdfunding, 3D printing, and affordable prototyping. Your support will help us bring more products like Qwerkywriter to life.”

Qwerkywriter connects wirelessly via Bluetooth to iPhones, iPads, iMacs, MacPros, Macbooks, Android Tablets Devices, Windows Tablets, and more. It features industrial strength mechanical switches that provide a unique clicky tactile feel. The brilliant Return Bar functions as an ENTER key by default. But it's also programmable, remembering up to 5 characters. The patent-pending keycaps were inspired by vintage typewriter keycaps. With their concave surface and touch-type support, they’re equally ergonomic and beautiful. Jack Kerouac would have loved it.

To be able to enter my copy for the next Retronics installment using a Qwerkywriter I shall add it to my Christmas Wishlist. Seeing the price of $349 I’m not sure though if my wish will come true [HardReturn||LineFeed||Ping!!].
