Startup Spotlight: Luchrome and BTRY before electronica 2026
on
Startup Spotlight brings two hardware startups to Elektor’s live stage on Thursday, October 15, 2026, at 16:00 CEST (14:00 UTC / 10:00 EDT). Join the free live session to hear from Romain Futsch, CEO of Luchrome, and Dr. Moritz Futscher, CEO and co-founder of BTRY, as they discuss two technologies aimed at reducing the size and energy demands of connected electronics.
What the Startup Spotlight Will Cover
Luchrome is developing fully printed electronic displays for applications such as asset tracking, medical diagnostics, retail labels, and connected products. Its Lusight technology uses a metal-free printed process and ambient light rather than a conventional backlight. The company says the approach reduces component count and power consumption while allowing thin, flexible, customized display formats. At CES 2026, Lusight was named an Innovation Awards Honoree in Sustainability & Energy Transition.
BTRY is approaching the same low-power electronics problem from the energy-storage side. The Swiss startup develops thin-film all-solid-state lithium-ion batteries that start at around 0.1 mm thick, can charge and discharge in about one minute, and are designed to operate across a wide temperature range. BTRY says its solvent-free manufacturing approach uses scalable semiconductor production techniques. Applications include IoT devices, wearables, medical electronics, smart labels, and other products where conventional cells are too thick or slow to recharge.
Startup Spotlight ahead of electronica 2026
The session comes less than a month before electronica 2026, which runs from November 10 to 13 in Munich. Startup technology has long been part of Elektor’s presence at the show through the electronica Fast Forward startup program, where emerging hardware companies present working technology to engineers, investors, and industry partners.
This first pre-electronica Startup Spotlight gives both guests room to explain how their technology works, where it is already being tested, what still has to be solved before larger-scale deployment, and what they expect from electronica. Viewers can also enter to win one of five electronica 2026 tickets during the live event.
