The XR33202 from Exar Corp, is a 20Mbps half-duplex TIA 485/422 transceiver. The transceiver operates with a supply range from 3.0 V to 5.5 V and features an adjustable logic supply from 1.65 V to 5.5 V. The standby current is typically 0.05 µA, 3.0 µA max.

The receiver includes full fail-safe circuitry to guarantee a logic-high receiver output when the receiver inputs are open, shorted or undriven. The XR33202 receiver input impedance is at least 96 kΩ (1/8th unit load) allowing more than 256 such devices on the same bus. The driver is protected by short-circuit detection as well as thermal shutdown and maintains a high impedance state in shutdown or when powered down. It does not implement any slew rate limiting on the output signal to allow data rates up to 20 Mbps.

The XR33202 exceeds the highest ESD rating of IEC 61000-4-2 Level 4. It also includes protection features such as hot swap glitch, overload and enhanced receiver fail-safe for open, shorted or terminated idle data lines.

Specified over an extended temperature range of -40 to 125 degrees C, the XR33202 is offered in RoHS compliant, green/halogen free, space-saving 3mm x 3mm DFN package. 1,000-piece pricing starts at $1.60 each.
