Electrolytic + polymer = the hybrid capacitor
Electrolytic capacitors rank high on the list of most discussed electronic components. It’s because the old ones dry out our erupt with a vile smell, middle-aged ones go high-ESR, and new ones are subject to long winded discussions by SMPSU designers and, sadly, audiophools. No seems to like “the electrolytic” and we all silently wish for it to be replaced by a “solid” capacitor with the same value. Now you can have the best of both worlds: hybrid capacitors from Panasonic Automotive & Industrial Systems have been designed to combine the advantages of electrolytic capacitors with those of solid polymer capacitors.
