AC-DC current sensors
Current may be measured without introducing losses in its path with the aid of the well-known series current transformers with clip-on probes or reed sensorsin wh ich a contact is closed by the presence of a magnetic field. These devices suffer from a serious drawback, however: they can not measure direct currents. The sensors described here depend on the Hall effect and are suitable for measuring both alternating and direct currents.
