Digital volume control

Digital volume control
Two ladder networks and a buffer each form a volume control with a range of 63 dB. Network R3-R17 provides fine control in steps of 1 dB, whereas network R20-R34 provides coarse control in steps of 8 dB. The desired attenuation is set with the aid of multiplexers IC1 and IC3, each of which is controlled via three digital inputs. The destgn is such that the binary code on the six-bit wide overall control input accords wtth the set attenuation.
