Since the news broke about Apple dropping Imagination Technologies’ PowerVR graphical engine from future i-devices, the latter is struggling to stay in business. Owner of the MIPS processor core and the IP-for-IoT specialist Ensigma, Imagination now seeks to sell these two divisions in order to scrape some cash together for fighting Apple in court.

Imagination bought MIPS Technologies in 2013 for 100 million dollars. MIPS processor cores are used by companies like Broadcom, Qualcomm Atheros, Cavium and Microchip. Maybe one of them would be interested in becoming the full owner of their processors? Or will they prefer leaving the hassle of dealing with other MIPS licensees to someone else? You?
