Distributor Farnell element14 has created a list of hardware and software products which they believe are highly relevant for teachers and educators. The latest Raspberry Pi 3 model B, Keysight instruments and 3D printers are key items suggested now to equip schools and colleges in the teaching of electronics, presumably in the UK.

Items on Farnell element14’s education “bucket” list are:

Keysight N6705C Power Analyser: This power analyser combines one to four DC power supplies, DMM, oscilloscope, arbitrary waveform generator, and data logger in one integrated instrument.

Robox 3D Printer:  The Robox 3D printer uses a FFF dual nozzle head and suitable filament material feed to create 3D printer models of any 3D model in .stl format turning the educator’s lab into a micro-manufacturing plant.

Autodesk Eagle:  Autodesk Eagle PCB software  is free to students of qualifying educational institutions, giving them early access to professional tools that wild help them develop skills required in the workplace.

Raspberry Pi 3 Model B:  Building upon the features of its predecessors with a faster processor, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth Low Energy capabilities.

Mathworks MATLAB and Student Suite: MATLAB Student and MATLAB and Simulink Student Suite provide the same tools that professional engineers and scientists use every day to model, simulate and analyse projects.

LabVIEW Home: A graphical programming platform used by millions of engineers and scientists for problem solving, data acquisition and analysis, instrument control, automated testing, validation, and prototyping.

According to Peter Birks, Farnell element14 Business President, Sales and Marketing, Europe, “Supporting the education of engineers is vital to ensure that the next generation has the talent to drive our industry forward and it is our mission to provide the learning tools, resources and opportunities to help them achieve these goals.”
