Elektor Start-up Challenge - Paris 2019

Don't wait for Elon Musk to invite you aboard SpaceX! After Germany and Holland, this year Elektor makes a stop in Paris with a new contest for young companies who are active in the field of embedded electronics. This will take place at the new Forum de l'Électronique (Electronics Forum) exhibition in September 2019. This contest, called the Elektor Start-up Challenge, aims to stimulate the advancement of young entrepreneurs after their promising debuts.

Fast Forward, the startup platform powered by Elektor, was once a niggling startup itself (in fact, no more than scrawling on a beer coaster). After two highly successful performances at the 2016 and 2018 electronica trade shows, the Fast Forward platform acquired status as totally innovative and is now rolled out again jointly with Messe München at productronica 2019 from 12-15 November.

Elektor’s racing vehicle called Fast Forward has been out on the race track since 2016 when the ‘FFWD’ team made a solid impression at the prestigious electronica trade show in Munich. After an even more successful event last year November, FFWD will be rolled out big time again at productronica 2019 in November. We've only one advice: > PARTICIPATE!

Tension to the last minute. The jury has decided! On Friday 16 November 2018 at 12.00 Don Akkermans presented the winners of the Fast Forward Award 2018. Previously seven finalists had competed against each other in short presentations in order to win the coveted prizes with a total value of 150.000 euros.

I met the authors of this book during the 2016 edition of Elektor’s Fast Forward Award event at the electronica trade show Munich. There, Michael Shustov and his son Andrey Shustov proudly presented a new composite-component called the baristor for barrier-resistor. And sure enough their contribution was awarded with a prize for taking home to their native country: Russia. Barring the odd opamp, Messrs Shustov’s designs invariably include 1970’s/80’s/90’s components of the dead common type besides some rarer ones, but always discrete parts of the kind you can still grab by two or three leads. Having heard the baristor discussed in Munich back in 2016 I was curious to see how these obvious fans of let’s say old school electronic parts fared in a book publication.
